Juggling college & motherhood

Are any of you college moms or stay at home moms? Well, I’be been one on and off for almost 10 years. I got my Associate’s Degree in Education while I had my son. After he turned 2, I decided it was a good time to start working in the school system while my mom watched my son. Anyways, I worked for about 3 years until I had my 2nd child and did the whole stay at home mom thing again because my mom moved away and I had no choice to be a stay at home mom once again. Daycare was never an option for my husband and I to put our kids in. I am now pursuing my bachelors degree at WGU and hope that once I done my daughter will start pre-K and I can officially continue my career as an educator and put my stay at home mom job behind me once and for all as I do not plan on having more children. Let me tell you, it’s not a joke when they say motherhood is the toughest job ever…even harder when you are juggling college classes. Mine are online which make it a bit easier in my opinion, rather than attending a campus. But it’s working out great. I do have to give credit to my husband for helping me through this time because he is the one that occupies the kids while I take an exam or need to work on an assignment for my classes. I think having a spouse that supports you makes everything a bit easier. If you are a single mom and doing it all on your own, hats off to you!! You are truly supermom!

Please share your stories about how you juggle motherhood with work life…and what are some things you do to make it easier? I would love to hear your comments!

Who am I?

Well, like most of us, we are all many different things to many different people….even to ourselves. But we all have that one thing about us that defines us on who we are meant to be. Currently, I am a stay at home mom of two kids. I am also pursuing my teaching degree. I have always been the assistant…but never the teacher. So, I decided it was the perfect time for me to pursue my passion…becoming an elementary school teacher.

I decided to start this blog to share my journey between motherhood and pursuing my dream of becoming a teacher. I feel like these two important roles in my life are so rewarding. I hope my journey will inspire others out there to keep going and never give up on what they’re truly passionate about. I will be sharing many updates throughout my teaching journey so stay tuned….and please feel free to comment and share your similar experiences you may be currently going through.
